Dancing (Blog Hop Story)

Mandatory words: ballroom, evil, butter, wardrobe, rescue

She walks sure footed on a perilous path, woven between lush moments in barren space. Charmed by possibilities that lie beyond what the eyes can see, she is entranced in a dreamy ballroom dance with evil. One foot crossing in front of another, her arms outstretched in a graceful reach for something that feels good, embracing happiness devoid of truth. She is clothed in a wardrobe of secret enchantment and hidden desires. Like the yellow buttercup nestled in the upsweep of her brown curls, innocence lives on the outside yet holds within toxicity, ready to release upon the first misstep. Her only rescue is a gallant reality that wants her back, but waits for her to see.

And when she does, she shall don a dress of patience, courage, and strength to learn a new dance along a certain path, embraced in the arms of reconciliation and true joy.

Ah, the impact of few words! Very well done. I love the “dreamy ballroom dance with evil” phrase–nice use of two words. It’s as if we know the woman, but at the same time, there are many unanswered questions. Good job!

Thank you, Scott. This was a tough one to write… it isn’t sitting quite right me. I love the concept and the message, but I couldn’t get the flow right. I may or may not edit it. 🙂 Sometimes things are better left organic.

I love it when you experiment with these super short pieces. The descriptions are fantastic. Don’t forget to share if you do edit, though you’re also right that some things are stronger in their organic form.
